The Car Specialist

The gallery

Otherpeople’scars

All of it photographed on the floor at Riverside Ave, out the front of the shop, or on the day it went to a show. Nothing here is a stock photo and nothing here is somebody else’s work.

01

Finished and out the door

The ones that get photographed. Chrome on, colour cut back, sitting in the sun.

  • A Ford Crown Victoria in hot pink and cream with chrome trim and whitewall tyres
  • A Willys coupe in red with a black bonnet and roof and yellow edged flames
  • A long American wagon in maroon over cream outside the workshop
  • A white 1936 Cadillac with red steel wheels at a car show at sunset
  • A Ford F100 pickup in deep teal, front three quarter
  • The teal Ford F100 with a white canopy over the tray

02

The Falcon GT ute

One car, four angles, a blown V8 and 351-GT on the tailgate.

  • A blue Ford Falcon GT ute with the bonnet up showing a blown V8
  • The blue Falcon GT ute side on with the bonnet raised
  • The rear of the blue Falcon GT ute with 351-GT on the tailgate and a laced tonneau
  • The front of the blue Falcon GT showing quad headlights and the GT grille badge
  • A blown V8 in a bright blue engine bay with the scoop standing through the bonnet
  • The Falcon GT interior with black vinyl seats and a wood rim steering wheel

03

Part way through

What a restoration actually looks like for most of the time it takes.

  • A first generation Mustang convertible in primer with a fresh V8 fitted
  • A 1930s sedan hot rod up on the four post heavy duty hoist
  • A car shell stripped back to the bare floor pan with new sound deadening laid in
  • The front end of a blue Falcon on the workshop floor with the bonnet raised and the front panels off
  • A blown V8 in the teal engine bay of a Ford F100
  • A car body shell turned on its side on a rotisserie in the workshop, the underside in grey primer and the edges masked in plastic and orange tape
  • The same car body shell on the rotisserie, the underside now painted in gloss black

04

The shop itself

Riverside Ave, and the signwriting on the front of it.

  • Hand painted signwriting reading The Car Specialist above the workshop, with a white 1936 Cadillac parked in front
